I downloaded Windows 8.1 from MSDN. When I tried to run the setup from Windows, it said the OEM key is not supported with Windows 8.1. I surely can use a retail key from the MSDN account but that is my office account, and I should be able to use the key that I paid for anyways. Is there any work around? For example, on the desktop PC, when I edited the ISO file to bypass setup from asking for the key, I could simply activate using my original Windows 8 key after the installation was completed. I don't want to see anything weird happen to my existing recovery functionality and stuff so i was thinking about updating Windows to 8.1 instead of clean install.
That article suggests that the older ST comes with Windows 7 but the newer ST2 comes (only) with Windows 8. The article was offering a way to get to Windows 8 Pro. At least, that is how I read the article. I read it a couple of times. @Simples - I am using a Windows 8 Pro laptop and it works in any client site I have. What are the limitations of Windows 8 in your organization?
Mar 05, 2013 This is a Video on how to Re-Install Windows 7 Professional on the Dell Latitude ST Tablet. This version of Windows 7 is the 32 BIT OS and is the only one. Downnload Dell Latitude 10 - ST2 laptop drivers or install DriverPack Solution software for driver update.
Perhaps you can work out a way to make the tablet work for you. Lenovo makes Windows 7 tablets, so perhaps a different machine could work.
